Hot Day in Old L.A,

It was forecast to be a cooler day than the previous 2 which had been in the 90-100 range and it was the Sunday of the Angelino Heights open house tour; something I had missed for years but was detemined to attend. Well, I'm now sporting 2 blisters on the top of my instep, a sunburned neck and am probably as salty as the Red Sea but it was great being a looky-lou! Many of the houses that were in disrepair in the past are restored or in the process, with a few up for sale without restoration completed. It takes a passionate soul to dedicate the time, energy and money required to restore the grand dames to their past glory but thank heavens there are those who want to preserve some of L.A.'S history. It was actually quite nostalgic since I had spent part of my childhood living in an old Victorian that had been split into 2 unit housing and there was a house that had the same kitchen/porch access as ours. It was odd because I could place exactly where the washing machine would have been, where I trained Peppy, where the chrome dining table was in the kitchen but I could not remember the layout of the counter or cabinets. I realized that my childhood memories were only as good as those things that I had experienced first hand and cooking or putting things away wasn't my role then, just tearing though the house on my tricycle!

You got to actually ride your tricycle IN THE HOUSE?? That's really cool, lady! I love Angelino Heights and Erin recently took me for a drive through there after breakfast one lazy Sunday morning. We didn't get the chance to walk through like you but it sure was fun to imagine what they looked like inside. I'm sorry about your blisters, but they sound like they were worth it.
Love you.

Love the pictures. It's crazy because LA is so different now and it's nice to see old LA. Ahh remember before EVERYONE got there? It was awesome. There is a lot I miss about California! Thanks for your comment on my new baby boy coming. We are loving it!
