Little Wet Love Machines

It turns out that You-You is a water dog and she just loves to jump into her wading pool to "swim"...of course that can happen at any time of the day or evening and you have to be ready to play the "dry the puppy" game. If there's no pool available, not to worry, she can paddle her way through the water bowl much to the Kramer's chagrin.

My Last Father's Day

Father's Day 2008
"Grandpa" would have said it was a "good day", the weather was sunny and warm, some of his favorite foods laid out and an abundance of friends stopped by to honor him with their well wishes.

Hot Day in Old L.A,

It was forecast to be a cooler day than the previous 2 which had been in the 90-100 range and it was the Sunday of the Angelino Heights open house tour; something I had missed for years but was detemined to attend. Well, I'm now sporting 2 blisters on the top of my instep, a sunburned neck and am probably as salty as the Red Sea but it was great being a looky-lou! Many of the houses that were in disrepair in the past are restored or in the process, with a few up for sale without restoration completed. It takes a passionate soul to dedicate the time, energy and money required to restore the grand dames to their past glory but thank heavens there are those who want to preserve some of L.A.'S history. It was actually quite nostalgic since I had spent part of my childhood living in an old Victorian that had been split into 2 unit housing and there was a house that had the same kitchen/porch access as ours. It was odd because I could place exactly where the washing machine would have been, where I trained Peppy, where the chrome dining table was in the kitchen but I could not remember the layout of the counter or cabinets. I realized that my childhood memories were only as good as those things that I had experienced first hand and cooking or putting things away wasn't my role then, just tearing though the house on my tricycle!

Just Looking

SOMETIMES THINGS ARE NOT BLACK AND WHITE BUT SUBTLETIES OF GRAY; LIGHT DANCING ON THE SHEEN OF A SURFACE OR BITS OF LIGHT PEEKING FROM A SHADOW

Just sharing a little morning sunshine. This is my You-You who happens to be the smallest dog I've ever had but she follows in Kramer's footsteps when it comes to smarts, as a matter of fact, he's learning to love her too! Don't ya just love the ears?! This was a while ago so she has grown into her ears.

Future's Past

Summer is on the horizon and thoughts wander to my favorite, a road trip...but alas those are no longer available since summer school and the history of photography fills up. Oh well, I can remember...most of them anyway. 1 dream trip before I get too old is to go up the western coast to Canada one more time to see how much it's changed in 30+ years.

Day 3
I've stumbled my way onto Julie and Vicki's blogs and perused the pictures of all the wonderful times with the children and grandchildren; even found a link to Summer Melody which then reminded me of Amber Love and memories of earlier times full of surprise and promise for us all. In the beautiful faces of all those children I see the same promises that filled our young hearts; places of new discoveries to bring new adventures and be new people, new people to befriend and maybe love for a lifetime, sweet innocence that has not been channeled into selfishness but can yet believe in selflessness, caring for one another. Does that fresh smile reflect a heart that will teach us to be better; not apologize for a loving innocence that delights in the world and its people? I cherish that innocence. But, for now its off to my class of 20 somethings, hoping to still see that spark in a face.
The photo is for the expatriated Southern Californians.

California Dreamin' SLO

Day 2 of a new techno=geek

Okay, so after a couple of hours, I finally found my blog again (probably didn't know it was missing) and apparently the folks on my list of recipients got it! So, good Monday morning and I hope all is well as you begin a new week. Here in California we are going to be settling for what appears to be more typical June weather...cloudy mornings with some sun sneaking through in the afternoon. That was for the Utah people.
